There are 20 different huntable game birds in Namibia: Guinea fowl, Namaqua sandgrouse, Kurrichane buttongquail, common quail, Harlequin quail, crested francolin, redbilled francolin, Orange River francolin, Swaison's francolin, white-faced duck, Egyptian goose, Cape teal, Hottentot teal, redbilled teal, turtle dove, laughing dove, rock pigeon. Burchell's sandgrouse and doublebanded sandgrouse.

However, only two birds of each species may be hunted. During the official hunting season for game birds, which depends on the game bird species, more than two can be hunted.
